Comments.....Anyone?

I get a report from my stat counter each week telling me how many people are looking at my blog and lots of other useless pieces of information. New people every day. Who knew my life would be so interesting? So with all these new people reading, why do only a handful of you leave comments? Let me know what you think. It is really easy to do so. I am listening.

  1. Your life is intersting, I'm so enjoying your blog. I'm going to figure out that grocery challenge one of these day and try to pick up a few healthy tips too. I love that you post funny pictures of your husband, maybe that will entice him to read your blog!

  2. I only get about 1 out of 100 people to comment who visit my blog every day. Such is the blogging world. Sometimes giveaways bring people out of the woodwork. But I'm a comment freak, and probably comment too much.

  3. I dunno if the stat counter picks up feed subscriptions... I leave comments when I have something to say.

FWIW, I have no idea how many people read mine.

  4. I completely understand your dilemma. I'm new at blogging and it can be disappointing when no one comments. Especially when the views are there.

I now go through the list of TWD'rs and comment on each one who has posted a recipe that week. It takes me a couple days, but I get more responses and more visits.

I started giveaways this month, but, the comments are low, on that as well.

Here's hoping that we can collectively bring people out of the need to "lurk." Best of luck to you!!!

  5. When I started blogging a few years ago, it was also really disappointing for me that people would come and read but not comment. It felt so one-sided. I've found that the more comments I leave on others' blogs, the more comments I get on my own (of course I'm follwing too many blogs, so if I get behind at all it takes way too much time to comment on everything I'd like to comment on!)

Another thing that's increased my comments is responding to comments left. I like to do that via email--if I have the person's email address, then I click reply on the notification email from blogger, and replace "no-reply@blogger" with the person's email.

But even so, I think it's just the nature of blogging to only get comments from a fraction of the people who read your blog, and I've had to get used to it.
